The same family who ran the longstanding Chung's on Cass Avenue in Detroit, a restaurant that was founded in 1940 on Third Avenue South of Michigan, carries on the family heritage in the suburbs, opening Chung's of Waterford. Offering a very spacious and updated setting. The famous Chung Egg Roll is still being served, along with an expanded menu of dishes from the Cantonese perspective, some trendier Szechuan selections and now serving authentic Japanese cuisine. Among the most popular dishes are General Tso's chicken, shrimp wrapped in bacon (Wor Dip Har), Hong Kong Steak, and Almond Chicken. The restaurant celebrated its 12th anniversary in the suburban location in August of 2005.
